"My most important advice? We had a perfect team and car in 2000, but the message was clear: the drivers must work with the team. If the car is good and the speed is there, think about that finish flag. Don't risk too much," Mayländer shares.
The Nurburgring is notorious for its unpredictability, with sudden weather changes and tricky 'Code 60' zones. Mayländer warns Verstappen about the potential pitfalls, emphasizing the need to stay on track and manage traffic wisely.
"It's a fine line between taking risks and staying safe. Even the fastest cars can't make it if they push too hard. We had to remind one of our drivers in 2000 to keep it safe. You don't have to be first after the first corner; the race is long, and you can gain positions later," he adds.
